It took about three hours to achieve this look.
First they slicked down and pinned my own hair, then they very carefully made and glued over it a 'bald cap', leaving only a thin seam which was made up with shaded foundation so as to be virtually invisible. After that, they stuck on the half-wig and the wispy goatee and put me in costume.
Then I stood motionless in the Elizabethan waxwork display while the punters filed past. On a taped music cue, I would come to life and start singing 'Greensleeves', encouraging the passers-by to join in. They of course just screamed and ran.
