G, left, with Adrian Mills

Me, left, in case you were wondering, with fellow "That's Life!" presenter Adrian Mills as little-known punk duo Buster Gobsmack Eats Filth, the last two words being a give-away anagram.

The story behind the photo goes like this:

A rogue (Mr X of Manchester) was ripping off young bands by taking money for making (terrible) videos of them, promising them work and then becoming (surprisingly) difficult to reach by phone. I wrote a (terrible) song which Mr X (surprisingly) thought was just begging to be filmed. So Ade - whose singing is painful even to the tone deaf - and I were costumed and made up as punks by the Beeb. We went to Manchester and Mr X made a (terrible) video of us for £150. In turn, and for free, we made him into a TV star for a few days, and (surprisingly) he didn't like that at all. Which was nice.

Esther (surprisingly) liked my (terrible) song so much that she persuaded the BBC to record it. (See photo of me being Pete Waterman) We released it as 'We Wanna be Famous', a (terrible) BBC single which (not very surprisingly) bombed. And here, ladies and gents, is the cover photograph. I would add that this is (very surprisingly) the most classically correct left hand position that I have ever achieved.
