This song has a very posh rhyme scheme. You'll notice that there
are very few rhymes for 'lady' in English and so I've resorted to
lines like 'she loves me, so hip-hooray, de...' and 'circus
pay, de...' the 'dee' sound in each case being the start
of a new word.

Contrariwise, in places, I've elided 'lady' itself into the next word:
'..bearded la-dee-aphonously decollete, dee..splaying.'
It seems that the technical term for all this is 'apocopated' rhyme.
I just thought you'd like to know that. |
