Welcome, and thanks for dropping by. This is my personal website, long neglected because these days I mostly play with Hilary Spencer as the duo QuickSilver: click the button to find out more. But the solo career also seems to be moving so, for the first time this century, here’s an update... |
|

‘Listen,’ pictured left, is my solo, mostly live C.D., recorded by the BBC in Glenfarg, Perthshire. Eleven of the fourteen music tracks are self-penned. The insert includes all the lyrics. ‘Listen,’ is my solo calling-card. (You can Send a cheque for £12, payable to ‘M. Kean’, to 81, Chantry Road, Disley, Cheshire, SK12 2BE, plus your address, and one shall be yours by return. Paypal details soon.) |
QuickSilver is me plus Hilary Spencer, late of acapella meistersingers Artisan and the best singer in England. There, said it. We’ve been going for five years. On our first two albums, Plenty and Promise, Hils quite rightly does the singing. I join in a bit but I’m really there to play the acoustic guitar. I also write about half the material. The rest is a jolly jumble of whatever we like: folk, jazz, quelques chansons, einige lieder and some mad yodelling.

Marilyn Middleton, Steve Mellor and I have been an occasional trio for a few years now. We all sing, Marilyn and I guitar away, and Steve blows mean and moody clarinet. Our album's called 'Stuff', it's mostly good time, close harmony jazz and it includes three of my original songs. |
